Gubadley officially recognised as a district
A presidential decree of 19 May 2024 made Gubadley a district of the Banadir Region.
A decree of the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Dr. Xasan Sheekh Maxamuud, dated 19 May 2024 formally recognised Gubadley, Daarusalaam and Garasbaaley as districts of the Banadir Region, bringing the region to twenty districts.
The Gubadley settlement has existed since 1985 on the north-eastern outskirts of Mogadishu, bordering Karaan and Heliwaa districts and facing Middle Shabelle region.
The decree was read at the Banadir regional headquarters by the administration’s spokesperson, Salaax Xasan Cumar. Celebrations followed in Mogadishu on the night of 26 May 2024 and in Gubadley itself the next day, attended by Governor Yuusuf Xuseen Jimcaale (Madaale) and former Prime Minister Cali Maxamed Geedi.
