History
Gubadley has been a settlement on the north-eastern outskirts of Mogadishu since 1985. In May 2024 a presidential decree formally recognised it as a district of the Banadir Region.
Location
The district borders Karaan and Heliwaa districts and faces Middle Shabelle region.
People and economy
There is no exact census; the district is estimated to be home to around 23,000 families and is divided into six wards. The economy is built on the livestock and meat trade — Suuqa Dayax is the largest livestock market in the Banadir Region — and on the building-materials trade.
Administration
The district’s first commissioner was Cabdullaahi Nuur Maxamuud (Kaalibey); since 29 April 2026 it has been led by Col. Yuusuf Muuse Guure, with deputies and departments; see Leadership.
